Everyone says we should be using AI
Nobody can say for what. Meanwhile you are being sold six tools a week by people who have never seen how your business runs.
// Service 08 ¡ Business Consulting
Most established businesses do not need another supplier. They need somebody to look at the whole picture and say plainly which of the twelve things they are worrying about actually matters.
We spend our days inside other people's operations â their websites, their search, their customer data, their automations. That vantage point is unusually good for spotting the difference between a problem worth solving and an expensive distraction.
So this is advice, not delivery. Where AI genuinely helps and where it is a fashionable waste of money. Which systems are quietly duplicating each other. Where your customers are really coming from. What to do first, and what to leave alone.
// Why businesses call us in
If one of these sounds like a meeting you had recently, that is the problem this service exists for.
Nobody can say for what. Meanwhile you are being sold six tools a week by people who have never seen how your business runs.
Subscriptions accumulate for years. Half of them overlap, several were bought for a person who has since left, and nobody has audited the lot.
Money goes out across several channels and leads come in, but nobody can draw a line between the two with any confidence.
A process lives in somebody's head or a spreadsheet only they understand, and the business quietly stops when they are away.
// What we look at
Most engagements touch two or three of these. Very few need all four at once.
Where AI and automation genuinely earn their place in your business, in what order, and â just as usefully â what to ignore entirely.
Every tool you pay for and every manual step between them. What overlaps, what can be automated, and what should simply be cancelled.
Where your customers actually come from versus where the budget goes, and which channels deserve more before you spend another pound on any of them.
A standing outside perspective. Regular sessions and somebody to call before a decision, rather than after it has gone wrong.
You get a document, not just a good meeting. Ranked recommendations, with the reasoning, that you can act on with or without us.
Anyone can produce a list of forty problems. The value is in knowing which three to do this quarter and which thirty-seven to leave.
If the answer is a tool we do not sell, or a supplier who is not us, that is what the report will say.
The findings, the documentation and any process maps belong to you, whether you hire us to act on them or not.
// The honest bit
Any agency offering consulting has an obvious conflict of interest. Here is how we handle ours.
// How it runs
Consulting has a reputation for being expensive conversation. This is structured so it ends in a document you can act on.
What is bothering you and what you have already tried. If we are not the right people, this is where we say so and it has cost you nothing.
Which areas we are looking at, how deep, what you get at the end and what it costs. Agreed in writing before we start.
Interviews with the people doing the work, access to the systems and the numbers, and a proper look at what is actually happening rather than what the org chart says.
A written document: what we found, what it is costing you, and what to do about it in priority order with rough effort against each.
Act on it yourself, hand it to your existing suppliers, or ask us to quote. Some clients keep us on for regular sessions; most do not need to.
Every engagement is scoped and quoted individually, because a systems audit for a six-person firm and one for a national operation are not the same job.

âI highly recommend Don. From our first meeting he had a clear vision of my company needs and advised on options that I didn't know were even possible.â
Gonzalo Libano Robledo ¡ Google Review
âDepeche Code has been consistently reliable and great problem solvers for over 5 years as our website service provider. The professionalism is top notch.â

// Where we are useful
We are not general management consultants. This is the territory where our opinion is worth paying for.
If your question sits outside this â employment law, tax structure, funding â we will tell you and, where we can, point you at someone who does it properly.
// Before you ask
No. A good share of the businesses we advise have their own developers or another agency entirely. An outside read is often more useful precisely because we are not the ones who built the thing.
Every engagement is scoped and quoted individually, because the work varies enormously with the size of the business and how many areas you want looked at. The first conversation is free and carries no obligation.
It would be a poor one, since plenty of engagements end with a report and no further work. Where a recommendation happens to be something we sell, we flag it as such so you can weigh it accordingly.
Most run a few weeks rather than a few months. We would rather give you three things to do now than spend a quarter producing a document nobody reads.
A written set of findings and recommendations in priority order, with the reasoning and rough effort for each, plus whatever process maps or documentation came out of the work. Written so another supplier could pick it up.
Then we say so, and that is a legitimate outcome. Knowing your setup is sound is worth something, and it is a great deal cheaper than changing things that were working.
Tell us what is bothering you and what you have already tried. The first conversation costs nothing, and if we are not the right people we will say so.
